Leslie M. Brown, LMFT
Leslie M. Brown has an extensive background in fundraising and grant writing. Brown’s fundraising career began with Communities In Schools of Wake County where she served as a Development Associate and Grant Writer. In addition, for nine years she served as Senior Grants Research Specialist for Broward County Human Services Department and provided grant writing and other related services to the Broward County government and community non- profits. In this role, she also provided grant writing and resource development training to the Broward County community. Brown also provided grant related services as an Analyst at the City of Hollywood, Florida. Brown has successfully assisted many nonprofits and government systems in procuring funding and resources. She is enjoying helping MVG clientele in meeting their development needs.
Brown is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and has worked extensively with veterans, military families, women/families in substance abuse recovery, and youth. Brown’s specialty areas include workplace issues, career/business advancement, and minority religious groups. Currently, a Doctoral candidate in Counseling at Barry University, Brown maintains a practice co-creating wellness with a diverse clientele. In her counseling work, Brown is particularly proud of the work that she has done with high school students and their families who were impacted by the Marjory Stoneman Douglass school shooting in 2018. She has advanced training in couples and family therapy utilizing Bowen Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/CBT-Trauma Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Brown’s hope is that seeking wellness, whether through mental health counseling, or traditional modalities and experiences will become as normalized as seeking medical models of health.
